Part-Time Funeral Assistant

Position Summary:

We are currently looking for a motivated person to help assist families by working under the supervision of one of our licensed funeral directors.

Primary Tasks:

1.Assist with funeral services in chapel and or cemetery, churches or other locations (handling and moving funeral equipment, casket and floral arrangements).

2.Assist with making first calls and removals at the locations where death occurs.

3.Drive vehicles as needed.

4.Must be available to work at both of our locations.

Other Requirements:

Good verbal and interpersonal skills; compassionate understanding and ability to deal with those that are grieving. Must have a valid driver’s license and proper work attire.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job.

Occasional very heavy work requiring exertion of more than one hundred (100) pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

Moderately undesirable conditions due to frequent exposure to one or more disagreeable elements, such as dirt, dust, temperature extremes, weather fluctuations, equipment movement hazards, toxic or caustic chemicals, biological hazards.

The day after his high school graduation Wesley moved to Georgia to begin his career in funeral service. He graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Decatur, Georgia with an Associates Degree in Funeral Service. He moved back to Arkansas in 2005, and has been in funeral service for over 18 years. He is married to Donna Bradshaw Cole formerly of Camden. In 2018, Donna and Wesley purchased Buie Funeral Homes in Rison and in Sheridan.  He also serves as a Cleveland County Deputy Coroner.

Donna is a native of Camden, Arkansas, she graduated from Victory Christian School in 1993. She later went on to attend the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope, where she received an Associates Degree in Funeral Service Science. She has worked in funeral service for the past 20 years. She is married to Wesley Cole and has one son Kaleb.

Funeral Director

After  30 years in the antique furniture business, Vince decided to change career paths and join his son Wesley  in  funeral service . He is a licensed funeral director and a United States Navy veteran.  He enjoys working on his cattle farm and restoring antique cars in his spare time.

Receptionist - Rison

Ruth has been with Buie Funeral Home since 2019. She is a member of Center Missionary Baptist Church in Rowell.  She also serves as a Deputy Coroner in Cleveland County.
