Wanda Florene (Calvert) Payne

Wanda “Cal” Florene Calvert Payne, age 90, of Woodlawn, went to be with her Lord on Friday, March 4, 2022, after a long battle with dementia. She was born April 26, 1931, in Cleveland County to the late Leon and Evia Mae Calvert. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Albert “Al” Payne, and her son, Tony Payne. Florene retired from Georgia Pacific and was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her Lord and enjoyed gardening and crocheting in her spare time. 

She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Harrison (Mike) of White Hall, AR; Vickie White (Ron) of Frisco, TX; her sister, Zelda Franks (Gene) of Nine Miles Falls, WA; grandchildren, Wade Payne (Rhonda), AJ Payne (Kelly), Randy White (Alaa Ali), Mary Amber Shasteen (Kyle), Chris Harrison (Mandy), Leanne Hitt (Todd), six great-grandchildren, and numerous family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ron White, Randy White, Alaa Ali, Todd Hitt, Chris Harrison, and Kyle Shasteen, with Caleb Hitt, Wade Payne and AJ Payne as honorary pallbearers. 

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2022, at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. 

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Buie Funeral Home in Rison with Brother Charles Woolley and Brother David Hoffman officating. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery.
