Thomas Howard Gavin

Thomas Howard Gavin, 90, passed away on June 14, 2021, at his home. He was born in Herbine, AR, on September 1, 1930 to Victor Lynn Gavin and Jane Carr Gavin. On September 27, 1962, he married Joan Mercer Gavin, who passed away on March 26, 2010.

Howard was a Methodist and a Korean War Era veteran, having served as a medic at Camp Sullivan in Alaska. After an honorable discharge from the United States Army, he returned home to the Rye, AR, area and began farming, which he loved. He also loved to hunt and fish.

Howard is survived by his sons Thomas Collins Gavin and Jerry Lynn Gavin, his sister Ora M. Gannaway and his niece and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister Ruby Lynn Lowry.

Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Enon Cemetery in the Rye Community. Arrangements by Buie Funeral Home of Rison (870) 325-6216.
