Shelda "Topsy" Taylor

Shelda “Topsy” Levern Taylor, age 81, of Rison, went to be with her Lord on September 13, 2023. She was born March 4, 1942 in Rison to the late Mark and Ilda King. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband J. D. Taylor, her siblings Bill King (Birdie), Louise Riggins (Bub), Herbert King (Lucille), Hoyal King (Eugenia), John King (Charlene), Marvin King (Ruby), Walter King, Joe Paul King and her brother-in-law Danny Jacks, brother-in-laws Clarence Taylor and Bill Taylor (Betty Jean) and Bo Givens. She attended Zion Missionary Baptist Church, she loved her family and spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She also loved flowers and planting flowers. She will always be remembered for her fried chicken and chocolate pie. She enjoyed drinking Coke and always had plenty for anyone visiting. She and her husband refinished furniture for many years and she worked for Rison School Cafeteria for several years.  

She is survived by her children David Taylor (Diana), Annette Dees, Machelle Jones and Ronnie Taylor (Kelly), grandchildren, Ashley Saeler (Austin), Colby Taylor, Hunter Taylor (Regan), Hannah Gresham (Clay), Kelsey Rhodes (Allex), Lane Jones, Noah Gavin and Ryan Taylor, great-grandchildren Jared Saeler, Ethan Saeler, Addison Saeler, Jaxon Taylor, Aiden Taylor and Darcy Gresham. She is also survived by her sister Marcell Jacks, sister-in-law, Judy King, sister-in-law Lorene Givens, Brother-in-law Carter Taylor (Betty) and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2023, at Buie Funeral Home in Rison.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Buie Funeral Home in Rison with Bro. Jackie Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers include Mack Riggins, Rodney King, Greg Jacks, Larry King, Carter King, and Billy King.
