Richard David "Bird" Myers

Richard “Bird” David Myers age 82 of Fordyce, Arkansas died, Tuesday, October 24, 2023. He was born June 16, 1941 to the late Gilbert S. Myers and Nora Ryals Myers. Richard was a 1961 graduate of Watson Chapel High School. He retired from the Cotton Belt Railroad after 40 years of service. He also raised chicken for Tyson, cut hay and firewood. Richard was also preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Virginia Myers, four brothers, Gilbert, Walter, Alvin and Larry Myers, two sisters, Mary Stevens and Linda Jenkins, grandson, Daniel Gee. Richard was a member of Prosperity Baptist Church of Ramsey, Arkansas.

Mr. Myers leaves behind, a son, Jeff Myers of Canton, Ms., daughters, Debra Myers of Fordyce, Sherry Gee (Ronald) of Clinton, a sister, Martha Ann Jenkins of White Hall, six grandchildren, Chad, Denise, Heath, Michael, Amber and Alyssa, nine great grandchildren, Colin, Braden, James, John David, Richard, Olivia, Kenlee, Kolby and Devin, and one that he considered a grandchild and four that he considered his great grandchildren, and two lap companions, Pumpkin and Nina.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 27, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Buie Funeral Home in Rison with Brother Mark Wheeler officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 pm, prior to the service.
