Nancy Reed York

Nancy Reed York, age 63, of Rison, passed away in her home on Saturday, April 9, 2022, after a short battle with brain cancer. She was born May 27, 1958 in Pine Bluff to the late Evan and Mary Lou Reed. Nancy retired from Super One Foods in 2020, after 13 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Clayburn Reed, sister and brother-in-law, Louvada and Wayne Redwine and parents-in-law, Wayne and Joella York.

Nancy loved the outdoors. She was an avid hunter and fisherman. Her most recent hobby was trapping hogs. She also loved cardinals, keeping her hummingbirds fed and spending time with friends and family.

Nancy is survived by her husband, John York of Rison, whom she married on July 3, 1990, two daughters and sons-in-law, Misty and Ben Cates of Barling, Kristy and Dell Nichols of Rison, one son and daughter-in-law, Micheal and Manda Tharp of McGehee, four grandchildren, Hannah Reynolds (Jacob), Colton Enloe, Reed and Allison Cates, and one great-grandchild, Asher Reynolds. She is also survived by a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2022 at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Rison with Willis Findley officiating.

Pallbearers will be Layne Reed, Barry Reed, Darrell Redwine, Joe Hickerson, Johnny Howard and Bennie Reed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any Glioblastoma Brain Cancer Research Organization.
