Mildred Alice Morgan

Mildred Alice Morgan, the matriarch of her family, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at age 98.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many people in the Pine Bluff and Rison areas.

She was a devoted wife to her husband of 72 years, John W. Morgan, a loving mother to her four children, a proud grandmother to her seven grandchildren, and a friend to many nieces and nephews.  She was a great cook.  Her table was a place of friendship and welcoming warmth, laden with traditional southern dishes, and lots of laughter.

She retired from Brunswick Corporation, the former Ben Pearson Bow and Arrow, where she worked as a supervisor in the string making department. 

She was a master quilter, and a charter member of the Pine Bluff Quilter’s Guild.  Quilting was more than her hobby.  It was her passion.  The network of friends in the guild was her support system through many years of living and loving, expressed through her quilts. 

She was born on August 27, 1921 in Cleveland County, Arkansas, to John Monroe and Claudie May Patrick.  Her five siblings preceded her in death.  They are Clarence Patrick, Lloyd Patrick, Homer Patrick, Vivian Patrick Person, and Melba Patrick Wardell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wilson Morgan of Cleveland County, daughter Carolyn Ann Morgan Domon, and son-in-law, Olen Domon of Pine Bluff.  Survivors are her son, Roy Lathan Morgan; daughters, Bernita Morgan and Martha Morgan; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, numerous other family and friends and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison, with a visitation prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Prosperity Cemetery at Herbine.  Pallbearers are Steven Domon, John Morgan II, Rob Meyer, Ed Holmes, Chase Domon and Reece Morgan.  Honorary pallbearers are Matt Clark and David Patrick.  Arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Rison.  (870)325-6216.
