Mildred Mary (Pearce) McGarity

Mildred Mary Pearce McGarity was born December 2, 1928 in Forrest City, Arkansas, the last surviving child of the late Alice Katherine Pearce and Joseph Blair Pearce. She passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the age of 93. She was the widow of Carl H. McGarity, whom she married June 30, 1945. He passed away October 4, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her grandson Todd Beck.

Mildred was above everything else a Christian and was dedicated to His service in many ways throughout her life. She was a faithful member of First Assembly of God in Sheridan, from 1952 until her declining health prevented her from regular attendance. She served the Lord and church in various roles including; Trustee/Deacon’s wife, Sunday School Teacher, Sanctuary Choir member, and was the consummate intercessory prayer warrior. She never left an opportunity to witness to someone about her Jesus and offered to pray with people without hesitation, leading by example 2 Timothy 4:2, being instant in and out of season.

She is survived by her three children: Sue (R.L.) Beck of Sheridan, Timothy (Shelia) McGarity of Hensley and Iris (Jerry) Paul of Claremore, OK; three grandchildren: Camille Beck, Dalicia (Mark) Emerson and Kenneth (Jennifer) Paul, a bonus grandson Jerry Beck, and five great-grandchildren: Peyton, Spencer and Tanner Emerson, Kolton and Kyler Paul.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Beck, Mark Emerson, Spencer Emerson, Tanner Emerson, Kenny Paul and Kolton Paul.

A Celebration of her life will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery in the Crossroads Community.
