Martha (Attwood) Turner

Martha John Attwood Turner of Hot Springs passed away September 3rd 2023.  She was born on December 23rd, 1928, in Rison to the late James F. (Jim) and Irene Gray Attwood.  She was raised by her aunt Emma Gray.  She was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Turner, sister Jimmie Stell and brother Victor G. (Pete) Attwood.  She is survived by her nieces Irene Gray Mauss (Daniel) of Climax Springs MO, Dawne A Sokora (Jimmy) of Hot Springs and nephew Gene Attwood of Askola Finland, several grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews. Also, a special thank you to Akira Jefferson, her beloved caregiver for the last 5 years. 

She was a member of the Rison United Methodist Church.  She retired from KTRK, Channel 13 in Houston Texas where she worked most of her career.

She attended and graduated from Rison High School in 1946 serving as Secretary-Treasurer.  She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas Fayetteville where she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority.  

Memorials may be made to the Rison United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday September 6th at 10 am at Buie Funeral Home of Rison followed by the burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Rison.
