Martha Akines

Martha Mae Akines, age 77, of Star City, went to be with her Lord on Monday, December 13, 2021. She was born June 8, 1944 in Star City to the late Fredrick Eli Morrison and Johnnie Mae Hoover Morrison. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Claudie Akines and her son Johnny Lawrence Akines, her brother, Alfred W. Morrison, her sister, Billie Kathryn Morrison and three infant brothers. Mrs. Akines was a graduate of Star City High School and later retired from USA Drugs. She was also a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Palmyra.

She is survived by her sister, Mollie Hill Cockrell and her husband Barry, nieces, Beth Hill Hankins and her husband Robert, Roxie Hill Brockman and her husband Mike, Kathryn Morrison Dean and her husband Dan, Barbara Morrison and the Lawrence Akines family whom she loved dearly.

Pallbearers will be Mike Brockman, Robert Hankins, Chris Reynolds, Joshua Bobby Hill, Randall Joe Brockman, and Ricky Collins. Honorary pallbearers will be Arlie Akines, Danny Akines and Heather Phillips.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison with Bro. David Harrington officiating. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow in Macedonia Cemetery.
