John H. Selby

John Herbert Selby, age 80, of Herbine, went to be with his Lord on October 28, 2021. He was born January 30, 1941 in Thebes, Arkansas to the late Raymond and Muriel Selby. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Phyllis Selby and his brothers Ray and Marion Selby. Mr. Selby worked in law enforcement for many years serving as Chief of Police for Rison and Smackover and working for the Arkansas Highway Patrol. He also owned his own poultry business for over 31 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, pets and watching nature.

He is survived by his children Muriel Mayfield, Bob Woods, Karen Smith, Kellye Alstadt and her husband Matt, Krissy Morrison and her husband Chet, grandchildren, Magan Smith, Bailey Smith, Drake Alstadt, James Morrison, Luke Morrison, Lee Woods, Melissa Kennedy, Heather Terry, Jamie Morris, Drew Stayton and Katie Bullard, 16 great-grandchildren and special friends Mary Ann Helms and Ken Helms.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Prosperity Cemetery in Herbine with Jerry Selby officiating.
