Jerald Franklin Norton, Sr.

Jerald Franklin Norton, age 92, of Pine Bluff died on Friday, December 27, 2019.  He was born October 24, 1927 near Calmer, Arkansas, to Stewart and Macel Huselton Norton.  He graduated from Woodlawn High School.  He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Helena during the Korean War. 

Mr. Norton worked for List Laundry and as a route salesman for Dean’s Milk for over twenty-five years.  He also worked for Glover-Taylor Enterprises before retiring.  He was a faithful member of First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff. 

On February 7, 1953, he married Betty Jane Campbell.  She preceded him in death on March 11, 2005.  In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Billy James Norton.

Survivors include two sons, Jerald Franklin Norton, Jr. of Bentonville and Richard Earl Norton of Pine Bluff; brothers, Bob Norton and wife, Melda of Pine Bluff, Mike Norton of Little Rock and a sister-in-law, Marie Norton of Bridge City, Texas.

Mr. Norton enjoyed working in his garden and giving the extra flowers and vegetables to family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 29, 2019 at First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, with a visitation prior to the service, beginning at 1:30 p.m.  Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Pine Bluff.

Pallbearers are Leon Slaughter, Johnny Johnson, Mike Robertson, Marion Glover, Larry Procell, Willie Greeson and honorary pallbearer, Dewayne Wright.  Memorials can be made to First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 1500 West 73rd Ave., Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71603.  Arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
