Jack B. Hopson, age 78, of Rison went to be with his Lord on Thursday, June 24, 2021. He was born January 24, 1943 in Warren, Arkansas to the late Raymond and Frances Attwood Hopson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James R. Hopson. He retired from the US Postal Service, where he served as Postmaster in
Rison and in New Edinburg. After his retirement in 2012, he began working part-time for the Cleveland County Treasurers Office. In 2013, he was sworn in as Cleveland County Treasurer as position he held until his passing. Jack also served on the Cleveland County Rural Water Board, he enjoyed golfing and his yearly family trips to the beach.
He is survived by his daughter Becky Hamilton of New Edinburg, his son Chris Hopson and his wife Melissa of New Edinburg, four grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Scott Morrison, Steve Morrison, Cliff Hopson, Avery Hopson, John Culpepper and Jack Rodgers with the employees of the Cleveland County Courthouse serving as honorary pallbearers.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Free House Cemetery in New Edinburg.
