J.L. Johnston

James Lynn “J.L.” Johnston, age 85, of Rison went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. He was born December 25, 1935 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late Hughie Lynn Johnston and Louise Reed Johnston. Mr. Johnston served in the United States Army, later he served as a Cleveland County Deputy Sheriff until his retirement. He was a member of Bethel #1 Missionary Baptist Church and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and bird watching.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Gloria Faye Johnston, his sons, Steve Johnston of Rison, Jay Johnston and his wife Kim of Bentonville, one brother, Ronald Johnston and his wife Sandra of Woodlawn, grandchildren, Rusty Johnston of Rison, Jayci Johnston of Bentonville, and Candi Schyller of Corpus Christi, Texas.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 26, 2021 at Friendship Cemetery in Woodlawn with Bro. Michael Goodwin officiating.
