Imogene Shelby Gibson

Imogene Shelby Gibson, age 91 of Pansy, passed away January 8, 2023.  She was born August 4, 1931, in Herbine, AR to the late Herbert and Verda Puckett Shelby.  Imogene was a 1947 graduate of Woodlawn High School and after graduating college, taught school at Woodlawn for 45 years. She was known for instilling bible study and the Pledge of Allegiance to her students.  After retiring, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, and most important of all, spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.  Imogene was a longtime member of Cornerville Missionary Baptist Church.  She will be deeply missed.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Gibson, brother, Verle Shelby and sister, Eva Rauls.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Cherry (Mike), and Amy Booker (Gary), grandsons, Alan Cherry (Melissa), David Cherry, and John Booker, and granddaughter, Garianna Pace (Blake); great-grandchildren, Garrett, Caden, Brennan, and Dresden Cherry, and brothers, J.H. Shelby (Rita), and Roger Shelby (Wanda), and many more family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Alan Cherry, David Cherry, John Booker, Chris Brown, Garrett Cherry, and Caden Cherry.  Honorary bearers will be, Brennan Cherry, Dresden Cherry, Blake Pace, Michael Booker, Paul Rauls, and Bruce Brown.  Officiating will be, Julius Carter and Randall Baker, honorary officiant will be Ronnie Meredith.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison.  Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Buie Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Rowell Cemetery.
