Gary L. Powers

Gary Lee Powers, age 74 of Hot Springs, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019 in Little Rock.  He was born January 16, 1945 in Warren, Arkansas to Clifford E. Powers and Marguerite Parnell Powers.  Gary retired from International Paper after 39 years as a supervisor over the pulp mill.  Gary was an avid outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping hogs and golfing.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #178, and also a Shriner.  He also worked for the Rison Sherriff’s Dept. under Jo Paul King. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his sister Flo Swett and brother in law Jack Swett.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Patsy Lawing Powers, children Garry Lee Powers, Jr., Penny Marie Bates (Mike), CarolAnn Marie Dickey (Jonathan), Gary Lee Powers III, (Destiany), Elaine Nicole Powers and fiancé Jacob Breeding, grandchildren; Jalana Kay Roys (Aaron), Kathrine Louise Hand, Tanner Kolten Bates (Angalita), and Kase Payton Bates, 6 great-grandchildren, 4 nieces and one brother Mickey Joe Powers.

A memorial service will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Bethel #1 Missionary Baptist Church  Rison, Ar.  Arrangements by Buie Funeral Home of Rison (870) 325-6216.
