Obituary

Carl Thomas Ward, age 66, of Rison, died, Monday, September 19, 2022, at his home. He was born November 30, 1955, in Crossett, Arkansas a son of the late John Thomas and Ilah Jaqelski Ward. Carl was a 1974 graduate of Hamburg High School. He went on to attend the University of Arkansas at Monticello, where he played the tuba in the UAM marching band, graduating in 1980 with a B.S. in forestry. Carl was very musically inclined, playing eight different instruments. He was a member of several groups, Jazz Fest in Natchitoches, Krew Dionysis and Johnny Earthquake and the Moondogs. Mr. Ward was a retired forester for Amerisafe Insurance, having served twenty-five years. One of the things that he loved to do the most, was float on his party barge on Cane River Lake. Carl was also preceded in death by a brother, David Keith Ward.

 Mr. Ward is survived by his wife, Donna Harris Ward, whom he married on December19, 1976; children, Ashley Kay Ward and Johnathan Jaqelski Ward; grandchildren, Makayla Ward, Lily Morris and Sam Meacham.

 The family will have a memorial service at a later date. Cremation services by Buie Funeral Home of Rison, 870-325-6216.
