Alma Young

Mrs. Alma Jean Holmes Young, age 68, of Rison, Arkansas departed this life on Sunday, May 1, 2022. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was born July 20, 1953 in Rison, Arkansas to the late KD and Bernice Holmes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Billy Joe Young. She graduated from Rison High School and later attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Alma was united in Holy Matrimony to Billy Joe Young on June 16, 1973 and to this union one child was born; Sharena Latriece Young Todd. She was a faithful member of New Life Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed planting plants, working crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Sharena Latriece Young Todd and her husband Allinzo Todd of Fairburn, Georgia; her grandson, Carl Murphy, Jr. of Fairburn, Georgia; one sister, Ozella of Rison, Arkansas; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2022 at New Life Missionary Baptist Church in Rison with Rev. Bobby Young officiating. Interment will follow in New Cemetery in Rison.
