Runyon Worthen

Runyon Worthen, age 87, of White Hall passed away on Monday, December 2, 2019. He was born January 22, 1932 in Grant County to the late Garland Bradford Worthen and Barbara Lawrence Worthen. He was a United States Army veteran, an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time with his family. He hauled pulpwood for many years and later retired from Varco after 20 years of service. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Hubert Worthen, William Worthen, Odie Paul, Iva Neathery and one granddaughter, Shirley Elizabeth Worthen.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Shirley Worthen, children, Garland Ray Worthen, Lawrence “Larry” Bradford Worthen, Donna Jean Knight, Elizabeth Ellen Smith, two sisters, Argie Taliferro, Ivy Corley, grandchildren, Michelle, Tommy, Matt, Kreth, Tammy, Tiffany, Rachel, numerous step-grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Buie Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Phillips Cemetery with military honors.
