Randy Pierson Hollis

Randy Pierson Hollis, age 68, of Rison, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019.  He was born on June 11, 1950 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to the late John M. and Maxine Pierson Hollis.  Randy was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the United States Army.  Before retiring, Randy worked on a bridge gang for Union Pacific Railroad.  He was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by his siblings, John M. Hollis Jr., Richard Baggett and Rex Hollis.

Survivors include his wife of forty-four years, Watheda Hollis; two daughters, Dusty Hollis Holderfield (Jason – Tall Boy) and Maxine Hollis; two grandchildren, Abygale Holderfield and Hollis Holderfield; seven sister-in-laws; four brother-in-laws; two nieces, four nephews and many, many friends and family.

He went by Randy, Bill, Runt and many other names, but one-of-a-kind and hero was for sure.  He loved his Savior, his family and friends.  Randy never met a stranger and the shirt on his back was yours if you needed it.  His time was spent at church, his cabin on the Saline river and with his family.  His testimony was strong, true, and he was most proud of his salvation which he shared everywhere he went until his last breath.  The legend is gone from this earth but walking hand-in-hand pain-free with his Savior. 

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m., Friday, April 26, 2019 at Greenwood Cemetery with a celebration of Randy’s life to follow at 5:00 p.m. with Brother Leonard Hodges and Brother Ronald Young officiating.  Funeral arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
