Patsy L. Spakes Weed

Patsy Lynette Spakes Weed of Rison, Arkansas, formerly a long time resident of West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 13, 2018.

Patsy was surrounded by her loved ones and husband of 60 years, Gary Weed.

Patsy was born in Rison, Arkansas to Brawner and Pauline Spakes . Patsy grew up in Rison alongside her three siblings, J.W. (Dub), Linna, and Jerry. Patsy went to college at Henderson State where she met the love of her life, Gary Weed. Shortly after having their two daughters, Leslie and Lisa, Patsy and Gary moved to West Palm Beach. Patsy was a dedicated educator in West Palm Beach for over 40 years. Patsy made such an impact on the lives of her students, including, Richard Aho, who has been like a son to her for over 40 years. After retiring, for the second time, Patsy and Gary moved back home to Arkansas in 2007.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Brawner and Pauline Spakes, and her brother J.W. (Dub) Spakes and sister Linna Spakes.

Patsy leaves behind her soul mate, Gary Weed, two daughters, Leslie Knowles and Lisa Cope, son, Richard Aho and son in laws, James Knowles and Kenneth Cope. Her brother, Jerry Spakes (Ellen), her grandchildren, Ashlei Quail (Ricky), Lauren Dively (Joseph), Benjamin Cope and Marlishia Aho, six great-grandchildren, Kim, Samantha, Brawner, Eden, Rylei and Austin and many other nephews, nieces, and friends who have become family along the way.

Family and friends will gather at Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 6411 Parker Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida on Monday, December 17th from 12:00- 2:00 pm.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison with interment to follow in Rowell Cemetery.
