James Earl Lay

James E. Lay, age 83, of Sheridan, died Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the VA Hospital in Little Rock. He was preceded in death by his parents Thera and Clara Lay, sisters Vera Mae Adams and Ima Dean Amos.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Lay of Sheridan, two sons, Stephen Lay (Barbara) of White Hall, James Allen Lay (Tina)of Sheridan, one daughter Karen Ballard of Sheridan, one sister, Ira Nell Byland (Kenny), 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.
 
Mr. Lay was a member of Sheridan Pentecostal Church of God. He was a freight truck driver for many years. He and his wife Dorothy enjoyed making trips to Indiana to visit Mr. Lay’s family and collecting aluminum cans, crushing each one and selling them for extra money.
 

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan. Interment will follow in Center Grove Cemetery. Arrangements by Buie Funeral Home of Sheridan (870) 942-3231.
