Bobby Jewel Simmons, age 89, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2019. Mr. Simmons was born on September 5, 1929 in Rison, Arkansas, to Jewel Randolph and Gladys Ross Simmons. He was a graduate of Rison High School and went on to receive his bachelor’s in accounting from the University of Arkansas, where he graduated with honors. On August 29, 1950, he married his beloved Anna Sue Knowles and they had two children. He had a long successful career in accounting. After moving throughout the south, they moved to Camden, Tennessee, where they lived for twenty-five years. He was actively involved at Camden United Methodist Church, serving in various leadership capacities, including teaching his Sunday School class for years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing on the lake with his kids and grandkids. They have spent the last fourteen years in Nashville, Tennessee.
Bob leaves behind his wife of sixty-nine years, Anna Sue Simmons; two children, Larry (Gayla) Simmons, Belinda Schwulst; grandchildren, Kim (Nathan) Cook, Chad (Stephanie) Simmons, Brandon (Regina) Schwulst, Amye (Jim) Harrison, Devin (Christy) Schwulst and twelve great grandchildren, who all loving refer to him as Papa Bob.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 5, 2019 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison with his grandson, Nathan Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Sunday, August 4, 2019 at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Nathan Cook, Jim Harrison, Lucas Harrison, Brandon Schwulst, Devin Schwulst and Chad Simmons; honorary pallbearers are Caleb Cook, Jake Harrison, Hudson Simmons and Tanner Simmons. Arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
